The Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) started by NMC from year 2019 has made undergraduate students more interested in the field of psychiatry.  CBME  is an approach to medical education that focuses on defining specific competencies (knowledge, skills, attitudes) that medical students must demonstrate before they can progress through their training and ultimately practice independently.

I joined medical school for first time in year 2003. Although the importance of psychiatry in MBBS curriculum was less as our medical education system prioritize other specialties, such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology, which may receive more teaching hours and clinical exposure compared to psychiatry. However during the course of MBBS had an opportunity to learn from Passionate psychiatry teachers who inspired me and instilled a sense of enthusiasm and curiosity about the field.

Joined as a postgraduate psychiatry trainee in 2010. After completing MD psychiatry am serving as teaching faculty in the same institute. I am coordinating the undergraduate teaching in the institute.
